Two-Step Verification for Canvas on Web Browsers

To log into Canvas through a supported web browser using two-step verification:

  1. Go to canvas.upenn.edu
  2. Log in with your PennKey username (all lowercase) and password in the Penn WebLogin, which will trigger two-step verification.

3. If you are using your own device–not a public computer (e.g., in a computer lab)–click the check-box next to “Trust this browser.” Then, click Log in.

If you are using a public computer, do not click the check-box next to “Trust this browser,” simply click Log in.

4. If you have signed up for Duo Mobile, select the notification that appears at the top of your mobile device to authenticate, then select “Approve.” You should be automatically returned to the Canvas app. Duo Mobile is the recommended two-step verification method for accessing Canvas on web browsers.

If you have two-step verification set up to text or call you with a code, you should receive a code shortly ,which you should copy or write down. Next, enter the code into the “Two-step verification code” text-box and click “Log in.”

Write or copy the code you received from a call or text. Then, enter the code into the “Two-step verification code” text-box and click “Log in.”
