Your instructor will be using a polling tool called Vevox in class this semester. Students may access Vevox from any internet-connected device including laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

To use Vevox, you will need a stable internet connection. For best results, we recommend connecting your device to AirPennNet, rather than using a guest network, hotspot, or cellular data. If you bring multiple devices to class, consider disconnecting unused devices from the wifi to improve connection speed in large classrooms.

Join a Vevox Session

During class, your instructor may display a Vevox polling question on the screen like the one pictured below:

Sample Vevox question screen displaying instructions to log in via a session ID or QR code, sample question text and multiple answer choices.

You will need to join the session to submit your response. You can join in one of two ways:

  1. Scan the QR code on the screen with your smartphone camera, OR
  2. Go to the Vevox app page in any internet browser. Type the ID number displayed on your instructor’s screen into the text box that says Enter Session ID.

If prompted, log in with your PennKey and password. If your instructor has chosen to award points in the gradebook for participation in Vevox activities, you will not be able to receive credit without logging in.

Participate in a Poll

Once your instructor has opened a poll, you will be able to click or type an answer on your device. After you respond, you should see a Vote received message. Depending on your instructor’s settings, you may be able to clear and change your answer before the poll closes. Follow the instructions on the screen to continue participating in any additional questions.

If your instructor has chosen to award points in the gradebook for participation or correctness, your score will appear in the Canvas gradebook after your instructor syncs the poll results.
