BlueJeans

Beginning July 1, 2022, BlueJeans Meetings will no longer be a centrally-supported videoconferencing tool for Penn users. We recommend Zoom as an alternative videoconferencing solution.

Any recording currently stored in the BlueJeans Meetings recording tab that you wish to preserve should be downloaded as soon as possible, and no later than June 30, 2022. View the download instructions for faculty/staff and students (via Nursing ITS). Meeting recordings downloaded from BlueJeans should be saved to alternative storage solutions, such as Panopto or Penn+Box.

If you have created any recurring meetings within your BlueJeans account, be sure to reschedule them on an alternative videoconferencing tool no later than June 30, 2022.

For questions about BlueJeans, please contact your Local Service Provider or canvas@pobox.upenn.edu.

Storing Recordings

In most cases, it is recommended that recordings are stored in a cloud storage solution rather than locally on your computer for both ease of access and security purposes. Which storage solution you use may vary depending on the type of information included in your recordings and the availability of third-party tools in your organization.

Use the following recommendations to help guide you if you have:

  • Recordings used for classroom or academic purposes.
    • These recordings can be uploaded to Panopto, which is integrated into Canvas.
    • Speak with your local IT support provider about obtaining a Panopto account.
  • Recordings that include HIPAA-protected research data.
    • PennO365 users can store HIPAA data in OneDrive or Sharepoint. For HIPAA compliance, Two-Step for O365 must be enabled for your account.

Always speak with your local IT support provider before making decisions about handling HIPAA data, as there may be additional considerations or concerns.

  • General recordings of meetings that do not match either of the above use-cases.
    • General storage of recordings can be managed using your organization’s preferred cloud storage solution. Speak to your local IT support provider to learn what options are available to you.
