Zoom Minimum Version Requirement- 11/5

Zoom is implementing a new lifecycle policy that will likely affect some Penn users.

What is happening?

On November 5, 2022, customers must update their Zoom client version to 5.8.6 or higher to prepare for a new quarterly minimum version schedule. Afterward, Zoom will require a new minimum version every three months (the first weekend of February, May, August, and November). For each new enforced minimum version, Zoom will also provide the next version they will be enforcing and the exact date of that enforcement. Additionally, Zoom will make an effort to support a given version of the client for at least nine months before it is considered end-of-life, at which point users will be prompted to update to the minimum version or higher.

What do I need to do?

Ensure you are updated to client version 5.8.6 or higher prior to November 5th. If you are not updated to version 5.8.6 or higher, you will be prompted to update before joining meetings starting on that date. Other Zoom software will be affected as well. See this link for a full list with version numbers.
