Canvas operates on a monthly release cycle through which features are added or updated. Courseware Support posts highlights from Canvas’s production release notes, a link to these notes, and other relevant content to the Canvas at Penn a few days before the production release, which usually occurs on Saturdays. January 16, 2021 Production Release Highlights
- Feature Option Management: The buttons to manage feature flags have been updated in design, which provides consistency for managing each feature. These design changes apply at the account, course, and user level. Specific features designed to apply to the subaccount or course levels include a lock icon. The type of lock icon determines if the feature can be managed at the subaccount or course levels.
- New Rich Content Editor: On January 6, 2021, the New Rich Content Editor (RCE) was enabled in all courses in the University of Pennsylvania Canvas instance.
- Push Notification Types End of Life: Multiple push notification types will be removed from Canvas. Details about each of the notification types can be found in the Canvas Notifications PDF.
