Canvas operates on a monthly release cycle through which features are added or updated. Courseware Support posts highlights from Canvas’s production release notes, a link to these notes, and other relevant content to the Canvas at Penn a few days before the production release, which usually occurs on Saturdays. Please contact Courseware Support at canvas@pobox.upenn.edu if you have any questions about an upcoming production release.

October 17, 2020 Production Release Highlights

  • Global Navigation Menu: The Global Navigation Menu includes a Recent History link, which displays recently visited pages in Canvas up to the last three weeks. This change allows users to remember what page was visited in one or multiple course sites.
  • Notification Preferences Interface Improvements: The user-level Notifications page has been updated to match the design of the course-level Notifications page to improve consistency, navigation, and remind users about notification overrides at either the course or user levels. Additional enhancements have been added to clarify notifications between each level.
  • MathJax Equation Improvements: The MathJax JS library has been improved to render equations in a more accessible format and promote ease of use.

Additional Updates

  • The Courseware Support Team is offering virtual office hours for Canvas and centrally supported tools through November 2020. For more information, visit Fall 2020 Canvas Office Hours.
