Canvas operates on a three-week release cycle through which features are added or updated. Courseware Support posts highlights from Canvas’s production release notes, a link to these notes, and other relevant content to the Canvas at Penn a few days before the production release, which usually occurs on Saturdays. Please contact Courseware Support at canvas@pobox.upenn.edu if you have any questions about an upcoming production release.

Please note that there have been some changes to the structure of the Canvas Release Notes. For more information, please see: Simplifying the Release Notes Process: Upcoming Release Notes Changes

8/4/18 Production Release Highlights

  • Student to Do List View: The Dashboard includes an option to view all course tasks in a list format. This view is currently only available to students. In addition to displaying automatically populated graded To Do items, the List view allows instructors to add non-graded items to the To Do list and students to add their own items to the To Do items. For full details, questions, or comments about the Dashboard List View, please see the Canvas Release: Student Dashboard List View document.
  • DocViewer Stacking Replies: Comment replies are stacked together and can be expanded to view the entire comment thread.
  • Quizzes.Next Beta Label Removal: This change indicates that the Quizzes.Next LTI is no longer in beta. Penn has not currently enabled this tool in Canvas. For more information, including how it compares to Canvas Quizzes, please see: Quizzes.Next Feature Comparison.
