Two Versions of Turnitin Available at Penn

As of May 23, 2018, Canvas at the University of Pennsylvania offers two versions of Turnitin:

  • Turnitin LTI: The version of Turnitin that has been available in Penn’s Canvas since May 2016. If you have created Turnitin assignments in Canvas during the past two years, you have used the Turnitin LTI.
  • Turnitin Canvas Plagiarism Framework (CPF): The new version of Turnitin in Penn’s Canvas, which streamlines the set-up and submission process for Turnitin assignments in Canvas, and supports group assignments and multiple submissions, both of which are unavailable with Turnitin LTI.

Which Version of Turnitin Should You Use?

For most courses, the new Turnitin integration using the Canvas Plagiarism Framework will be the preferred integration to use. If you are unsure, you can learn more about the features of these integrations.

How Do I Use Turnitin CPF?

The Turnitin CPF for Faculty/TA/Staff page explains how to create and view Turnitin CPF assignments.

The Turnitin CPF for Students page provides instructions for students on how to submit a Turnitin CPF assignment.

The Turnitin LTI instructions for Faculty/TA/Staff and Students have not changed. Please use these instructions if you want to continue using Turnitin LTI.
