Reblogged from Apps on Tap.
You may have heard that Penn is making the switch from Blackboard to Canvas this year. And great news, Canvas is mobile-friendly.
Keep up with your courses, readings, and assignments with the free Canvas app for iOS and Android.
To log into any of these apps, use the following URL (for general Penn courses): upenn.instructure.com
Students taking courses in other schools at Penn, such as GSE, Law and Wharton, should use the Canvas URL they use to access that particular course, minus the http:// or https://.
For faculty
In addition to the general mobile apps, Canvas has a SpeedGrader app for iPad to easily grade student work on the go. Our early reviewers, however, noted that many of the annotation features present in the SpeedGrader on a computer are not present on the iOS version.
Can I skip the app and access Canvas via my mobile browser?
Canvas is compatible with several iOS and Android browsers. However, since Canvas uses small elements of Flash, not all Canvas features may be compatible with mobile devices, especially on iOS, and Instructure recommends using the apps instead.
The following browsers are compatible with iOS:
-
Chrome (recommended by members of Penn’s Courseware Working Group)
-
Safari (default browser that opens from Canvas)
-
Photon Flash Player (supports Flash)
The following browsers are compatible with Android:
-
Chrome (recommended by members of Penn’s Courseware Working Group)
-
Internet (default browser that opens from Canvas)
-
Firefox
Canvas also can be accessed using browsers on WebOS, Blackberry, and Windows Phone.
